About the Genealogy Pathfinder

Welcome to the new-and-improved genealogy pathfinder from Kingston Frontenac Public Library in Ontario, Canada.

In March 2015, the library's old pathfinder was brought together with a collection of historic newspapers (formerly known as Digital Kingston) and the library's local history blog Presents from the Past to form the NEW Digital Kingston.

The genealogy pathfinder is not a searchable database of names or subjects, but a collection of resources--books, microfilm, websites and databases--that may be of use to those who are researching the history of Kingston or Frontenac County. We hope it will help you to discover new sources and provide quick access to the most frequently-used tools and strategies.

While we are unable to provide in-depth genealogy research services, we welcome your questions and suggestions, and can often "point you in the right direction." Please feel free to contact us using the Contact link at the top of this page.

Several other organizations in our area can provide expert help, especially the Ontario Genealogical Society (Kingston Branch), (which covers the areas of Kingston, Frontenac County and Lennox & Addington County),  Queen's University libraries and the Queen's University/City of Kingston Archives.

On the website of the Kingston Association of Museums, Art Galleries and Historic Sites you will find links to many of the historical and heritage collections and research institutions in our area, including a wide variety of events, exhibits, tours and activities.

Best wishes for a fun and successful search!
