Trial of Peter Gallego vs. Capt. James Sutherland for assault. Copy of statement made by Gallego in Kingston before James Macfarlane, J.P. Capt. Sutherland stated that he had orders from his employers not to admit "coloured persons" as cabin passengers without the consent of the other cabin passengers. The magistrate found in favour of Gallego and fined Sutherland £5. Gallego is the immigration agent for Jamaica and a graduate of King's College, Toronto.
